m-CRCSi

This mobile colorectal cancer screening intervention (m-CRCSi) is a culturally-targeted, tailored, and personalized intervention to enhance colorectal cancer (CRC) screening efforts among African American men. Based on the health belief model, the intervention is deployed on mobile phones via text messages that are designed to improve CRC knowledge and promote positive CRC-related health beliefs. Some text messages include links to web-based video components that provide educational instruction and increase motivation to screen.

M-CRCSi is designed to reduce health literacy barriers and promote the skill development required to successfully adhere to CRC screening recommendations. Based on clinic preference, the intervention can be deployed in primary care settings, where CRC preventive services often begin, or during community-based outreach activities, where clinic personnel contact new or noncompliant patients.
